From the progam for John Buchan’s The 39 Steps

KARl WANER (Technical Director) is trying out a new job title for The 39 Steps. Often, he has been on the hook as both lighting and set designer on the same show. This time out, he gets to take credit for the work of a very talent team by coordinating their efforts to best effect. Last season Karl was lighting designer for Little Mermaid Jr. and lighting and set designer for Mary’s Wedding. On rare occasions, Karl has appeared on stage in Just So, Rock and Roll, and The Affections of May.

From the program for Mary’s Wedding:

KARL WAGNER (Set and lighting designer) needs to learn to choose. Mary’s Wedding marks the 6th time Karl has designed both set and lights for the same production. The other times include Jacques Brel is Alive and Well… where he also played in the band, Departures and ArrivalsThe Wild Guys which he also stage managed, Seussical, and last season’s West Moon Street. On rare occasions, Karl appears on stage; most recently as the Rhino in Kanata Theatre’s production of Just So where he was also lighting designer. See what I mean
