Kanata Theatre kick off its 52nd season on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 7:30pm with “A Bad Year for Tomatoes”, set in the small New England town of Beaver Haven, where a world famous actress settles down to write her autobiography while dealing with nosy townsfolk and a homicidal sister of her own invention. From there, we venture to St. Nicholas Church and School in the Bronx in 1964 where a beloved priest faces an accusation of improper relations with a male student in “Doubt: A Parable”.
Kanata Theatre’s 2020 holiday season show, “Tarzan: The Stage Musical”, brings the jungle to the Ron Maslin Playhouse and promises to have you swinging and swaying from the rafters! While our holiday shows aren’t part of our regular season subscriptions, they’re always a special treat for audiences of all ages! Showtimes for this show, starting December 27 and running through to the 30th, will be at 2pm and 7pm.
In the second half of the season, we follow Phoebe & Ben and their circle of friends in “Months On End” as they navigate the ups and downs of love, joy and tragedy. We then return to New England in December 1936 for Ken Ludwig’s “The Game’s Afoot”, a murder mystery in the best tradition of Sherlock Holmes.
Kanata Theatre closes off its 52nd season with one of William Shakespeare’s most beloved plays, “Twelfth Night” (or “What You Will”), a romantic comedy that is indeed a “very midsummer madness”.
